How To Tie Different Tie Knots

A necktie is a very versatile thing. There are so many different tie knots you can do, there is a tie knot for every occasion and to match any outfit. Windsor Knot

  1. Hang the tie around your neck with the wide end on the right. The tip of the thinner end should rest just above the belly button. Only move the wider end.
  2. Lay the wider end over the top of the thinner end, then pull up into the loop around your neck from underneath.
  3. Pull over the neck loop and down to the left.
  4. Pass the wide end around the back of the thin end to the right.
  5. Then pull up through the neck loop near the centre and pull over the top and down to the right. 
  6. Lay across the front to the left and pull up through the neck loop.
  7. Pull through the centre knot downwards. Pull down, while sliding the knot upwards to tighten.

  1. Hang your tie around your neck with the thinner end on the left hanging so that it rests just above your belly button. Do not move this section of the tie, only the wider end.
  2. Lay the wider end over the top of the thinner end, wrap it underneath and pull to the right.
  3. Do step 2 twice more.
  4. Take the wide end and lay over the top of the thinner end to the left.
  5. Pull the wider end underneath the loop around your neck next to the knot.
  6. Pull through the front of all three loops you made.
  7. Pull the wide end white you push the knot up to tighten it.
  8. You should be able to see the first and second loop layered underneath the third.

  1. Hang the tie around your neck with the wide end on the left. The tip of the wider end should rest just above the belt buckle. Only move the thinner end.
  2. Lay the thinner end over the wide end to the right.
  3. Wrap the thinner end under the wide end and pull to the right.
  4. Pull the thin end up towards the centre and pass down through the neck loop to the left.
  5. Lay the thin end over the wider end to the right.
  6. Pull up through the neck loop from underneath.
  7. Pull down over the top of the loop to the left and around the back of the wide end to the right, making sure this is done loosely.
  8. Then pull up to the left and through the front of the loop you just made.
  9. Pull further to the left to tighten the knot.
  10. Tuck the thin end over the top of the neck loop and pull down to the left.
  11. Pull up to the right and pass through the top of the neck loop on the right side of the tie knot, making sure this is kept loose.
  12. Pull up to the left and through the front of the loop you just made.
  13. Pull the thin end to the left to tighten.
  14. Tuck the rest of the thin end behind the neck loop on the right.
