Happy Birthday Harry Styles

The One Direction star turned 21 this weekend, we feel as though he has been around for a lifetime but alas this young star is still very much a youngster who is finally legal to drink alcohol and gamble in the United States.

The star rose to fame after the 2010 X Factor show after being put together with fellow contestants to form the worlds biggest boyband One Direction!

Born in Cheshire on 1st February 1994 he lived with his mother and older sister Gemma. Harry worked part time in a bakery in his home town of Holmes Chapel whilst attending secondary school where he also was a singer in a band. He always enjoyed singing from a young age and was a huge fan of Freddie Mercury, Elvis Presley and The Beatles.

Harry celebrated his birthday in style in Los Angeles on Saturday night with a whole load of A list celebrities for his 21st including the likes of Alexa Chung, Kelly Osbourne, David Beckham, Cara Delevingne, Cindy Crawford, Adele, Chris Martin and Rita Ora all attended the star-studded bash!

It was a night like the Oscars and all for Harry Styles 21st birthday.

The stylish star wore a black shirt and black blazer with gold edging to mark his 21st year.
Harry can really pull off any look he wishes and here at Fab Ties we adore his dapper qualities, he has been seen on many occasions sporting a bow tie and matching pocket square.

We adore this cute blue eyed boy in this pic wearing a 2 tone polka dot with check centre bow tie with a white polka dot pocket square combination!

A vast difference from when he and fellow X Factor contestants first appeared on the scene 4 years ago! When all he seemed to wear was a basic polo shirt and trainers, (Oh what a bit of money and a stylist can do!) We think Harry has definitely grown into a stylish ikon. Cheers Harry!

Burns Night Attire

Burns night is celebrated on the 25th January, it’s a celebration of the life and poetry of the poet Robert Burns, the author of many Scottish poems. There has been a surge in Burns Night celebrations in the whole of the UK in recent years from people hosting parties and the surge in buying related goods.

People in Scotland tend to gather together to have a huge feast and eat haggis, a popular delicacy of the highlands. Many will wear traditional tartan attire in all their colours and glory from kilts, socks, jackets, Tartan Ties, bow ties, cummerbunds, scarves and pocket squares. There are so many versions of tartan available, most are assigned to an ancient name being handed down the generations.

Black Watch and Royal Stewart are the most popular tartan designs of today. Tartan is a pattern consisting of criss-crossed horizontal and vertical bands in multiple colours, tartan originated in woven wool but they are now made in many other materials making them more widely available.

The array of mens style was aptly classic, featuring the classic Black Bow Tie (BBT), Black Ties, Classic 3 Piece Suits, Lapelled Blazers and Pocket Squares.

Then we saw the crazy kids hit the red carpet who obviously wanted to stand out from the crowd, a full on sandy Calvin Klein suit with Louboutin high tops was worn by Alan Cumming, a bold move but we think it works and he most definitely stood out from the norm!

The Tie Style Guide

So we all love the neck tie here at Fab Ties HQ but with so many styles and fabric choices now widely available where does one daper man begin! With our guide to the necktie we look at some of the most popular ties on today’s tie fashion scene.

1.       Plain Ties – the traditional plain tie, probably the most widely available neck piece available, worn traditionally in a Windsor knot under a full lapel shirt collar. With many colours available to choose from today you could end up wearing a different colour every day of the month!

2.       Skinny Ties – The skinny tie is a slimmed down version of the traditional width of tie. Its available in lots of different colours and patterns and is prominent in today’s men accessory wardrobe. The skinny tie works well with narrow suits – think mod style, or this particular tie can even work well casually with skinny jeans and a casual shirt.

3.       Stripe Ties – The stripe tie is another classic design, an alternative to the plain ties, the two colour way design adds a bit of character to your style. Traditionally the striped tie was seen as an authority design in schools and the military scene. Yet in today’s market the stripe tie really stands out.

 4.       Clip On Ties – Made for ease of use the clip-on tie is popular for those unable to tie a tie. The clipon is also useful for security companies due to the safety aspect of this piece of neckwear.
