The Best Dressed of the British Academy Television Awards 2016

Following the recent British Academy Film and Television Awards hosted in London's Royal Festival Hall on 8th May 2016 and sponsored by House of Fraser we are going to talk about the best dressed men and women on the red carpet.

5 Best Dressed Men 

Will Mellor who stars in the crime drama Line of Duty stood out from the crowd in a grey suit with a black collar, a matching waistcoat, black skinny tie and a black and white polka dot pocket square.

Fred Sirieix host of hit reality TV series First Dates looked as charming as ever in a dark blue velvet dinner jacket with black lapels and a matching velvet blue large bow-tie.

Ian Hislop from Have I Got News For You, the winner of the scripted comedy award looked very smart in a classic black suit and large matching bow-tie.

Graham Norton went for something a bit different with an embroidered and beaded black suit jacket and waistcoat.

Birdy, who performed her hit Wild Horses at the main ceremony looked stunning in her Jade floor length dress.

Best Dressed Men Of The Awards Season

This awards season men's style seems to have narrowed a lot with the majority of people going for the classic black suit and tie with a white shirt and black shoes. However, there were some that stood out high above the rest bringing variety.

BAFTA's

This year the BAFTA's was held at the historic Royal Opera House in Covent Garden and there were quite a few very stylish celebrities, but for us there are two that stand out.


Idris Elba

Idris Elba; famous for playing the title character in the television series Luther and a variety of film roles cut a sleek image in an all black attire. He wore a Black dinner jacket, shirt, bow tie, trousers and a pair of black patent shoes. He was nominated for supporting actor for his part in Beasts Of Nature but unfortunately lost to Mark Rylance.

Taron Egerton

Taron Egerton was nominated for this years rising star award which he sadly lost to John Boyega. He stared as 'eggsy' Unwin in the huge hit Kingsman:The Secret Service. He also played 'Mad Teddy' in Legend the biopic feature about the Kray twins and will take the title role in the film Eddie The Eagle. Taron definitely looked the part in a Navy Blue suit with black lapels, matching bow tie, a white shirt and black shoes.

Oscars

This was the 88th Oscars Awards ceremony, it took place on 8th February 2016 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, LA.

Jimmy Napes

Jimmy Napes a songwriter, record producer and singer from London won the Award for Best Original Song with Sam Smith for Writings on The Wall. He modelled a green velvet dinner jacket, large black bow tie, white shirt, black trousers and a pair of black loafers.

Leonardo DiCaprio

Leonardo DiCaprio looked very stylish as always on the red carpet alongside his good friend Kate Winslet. He opted for the always charming classic black suit but somehow still manages to stand out. He paired his black suit with a matching bow tie, white shirt and patent black brogues. Leonardo won his category of best actor for his role in The Revenant.

NTA's

Held at the O2 in London on 20th January 2016 the 22nd NTA ceremony showcased some wonderful fashion and style.

Brian Friedman

Brian Friedman  accompanied the rest of the cast members of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! who won the best entertainment programme category. He donned a black felt fedora with a ribbon at the base, a white shirt underneath a navy blue checked waistcoat ans suit jacket, a black silk bow tie, black trousers and a pair of black shoes.

Billy Connolly

Billy Connolly won this years special recognition award for his amazing 50 year long career as a comedian and actor. He wore a black shirt underneath a white waistcoat and black velvet dinner jacket with purple lapels, a casual black cravat, a pair of statement tartan trousers and black loafers.

Golden Globes

The 73rd Golden globes was held at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California on 10th January.

David Oyelowo

David Oyelowo is an English actor and producer. He was in the films Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Middle of Nowhere, Lincoln, and portrayed Louis Gaines in The Butler. He attended the awards ceremony with his wife Jessica and wore a purple square pattern Dolce and Gabbana suit, with a matching waistcoat, a white shirt, black diamond shape bow tie and black shoes.

Will Smith

Will Smith was nominated for his role in Concussion as Dr. Bennet Omalu. Mr.Smith wore a dark navy blue Tom Ford suit with a satin stripe down the sides of the trousers, with a white shirt and pocket square, an oversized black silk bow tie and black shoes.
