How To Wear a Pocket Square

Pocket squares, also known as handkerchiefs are a great accessory to add that finishing touch to your outfit. They should be worn in the top pocket of a blazer, dinner jacket or suit jacket and can be folded in a variety of ways to change the look.

The history of the pocket square goes back to ancient Greece and Rome when they were used in the same way they are today, to blow the nose or wipe the face etc. However in the middle ages they were used to cover the head as suggested by the name. Pocket squares were formerly known as kerchiefs which is derived from the french words for cover and head. In the 18th century handkerchiefs were waved by women at public events such as processions and political events to show their approval. They are also used in types of West - African and African-American traditional dance and some types of English folk-dance.

Smart Summer Time Attire

It is no easy task to look smart when it is so hot, however it is achievable. There is no need to let your style standards slip in the effort to stay cool. We thought we'd try to help with the eternal struggle of how to look smart and stay cool at the same time and have put together some outfit inspiration for you.

Lightweight and breathable fabrics made from natural materials are the best choice in the heat. Also natural materials like cotton, linen and 100% wool dry faster which is always a bonus if you tend to sweat alot.

A long sleeved shirt and trousers are by far the best option when you are spending alot of time in the sun  because they provide the most cover.

If you want to wear a blazer or suit jacket make sure it is unlined or half-lined because they normally have a lining made from a synthetic material such as polyester.

Light colours are the best option because they reflect more light than darker colours, so this summer stick to your beige, white, grey, creams and pastels.

Our Plain Pale Lemon Yellow Tie and Pocket Square Set  will really pop if you wear with with a light blue blazer and some royal blue chinos.

For a casual look why not pair these cream linen cut off chinos with this navy blue blazer, light blue linen shirt and our Mens Knitted Black Square End Tie

Stay cool in this salmon short sleeved linen shirt with grey linen trousers and our Floral Navy Blue Pre-Tied Bow Tie.

Top 5 Tips for The Bride and Groom

Planning a wedding can be a stressful and harrowing experience. There is a lot to organise and plan in a short space of time, however much time you have it will almost definitely not feel like enough. So we thought we would try to help you out with our 5 Top tips for the bride and groom.

1. Voice your opinion.

Both of you have an opinion so make sure you share it. You will mostly both have things that it is up to you to decide on, plan or choose. If you don't like something don't sit quietly, have a discussion and come to a compromise. This is one of the most important days of both of your lives so you want to look back on it fondly, not always wishing that one thing was different.

2. Don't leave it to chance.

When you are picking ties, bow ties, cravats or accessories to match your colour scheme don't just keep your fingers crossed that they will be the right colour. Order a swatch to make absolutely certain you are making the right choice. You can view our range of swatches here: http://bit.ly/2b5AAfH

3. Put a great deal of thought into your choice of best man and maid of honour.

Your selection of best man and maid of honour could make or break your wedding. They play a very important role in helping to organise things and take some of the stress off your shoulders. Don't pick the friend that has an extremely hectic schedule or can't handle their drink and gets carried away easily. You need them to be able to help iron out little issues, support you both before and during the day and help make the whole day go as smoothly as possible.

4. Pay attention to your photographer.

These photos will be with you forever, you want to be able to look back at your photos and remember the wonderful occasion. Obviously you want to be able to enjoy your wedding and some photographers do take alot of your time but be sure smile and show your happiness. Also don't be afraid to ask them to ask them to change something if you don't like it.

5. Most importantly Enjoy Yourself!

Your wedding day will only happen once, its your day so make sure you enjoy it. Don't fret about those last minute little details, just let the day play out and have a great time.
